PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cesar Mesquita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Igor Magamedov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mesquita takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Mesquita shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Magamedov napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Magamedov manages to work his way to half guard, despite Mesquita's best efforts.

Mesquita is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Mesquita is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Magamedov has managed to free his arm - good work.

Magamedov pulls Mesquita in close to prevent any damage.

Magamedov is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Mesquita drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Magamedov gets the underhooks and prevents it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Magamedov has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mesquita uses from the top position.
Magamedov is pulling down on Mesquita's head. It's preventing any offense from Mesquita, at least for the moment.

Mesquita drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Magamedov dives on top into guard.
Mesquita can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Magamedov controls the pace.

I looks like Magamedov might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Magamedov takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Magamedov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Magamedov jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Mesquita manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mesquita takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
You can see the frustration on Mesquita's face as Magamedov controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Igor Magamedov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Magamedov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mesquita to the mat! Mesquita manages to get full guard.

Mesquita is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Magamedov is aware though and is defending well.

Magamedov decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mesquita, up you get!

Magamedov closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Magamedov has an Americana. Mesquita didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Magamedov is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Magamedov hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
