The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Delaney fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Martello avoids it really well and circles away.

and Delaney counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Delaney is working for a submission of some sort.

Delaney wants to work for an arm triangle but Martello is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Delaney throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Delaney is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Delaney distracts Martello with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Martello escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Delaney gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Delaney cracks Martello with a solid left hand.
Delaney has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Delaney passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Delaney is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Martello is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Martello is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Delaney's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Delaney is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Delaney uses his free foot to push down on Martello's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Martello.
Martello tries to hold on but Delaney postures up.
Martello sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Martello turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Delaney off and cradles Martello's limp body as Delaney celebrates with his corner.
