PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rocco Urso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendall Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Urso comes to the cage accompanied by Big Ten Inch. The key to victory for Rocco Urso has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rocco Urso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kendall Smith!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Dean Styles and Jonathan Paton.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Smith with that takedown attempt.
Urso tries to clinch but Smith moves out of range.
Smith fails with the takedown.
Rocco Urso seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up but Urso swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Smith shoots in looking for a takedown. Urso tries to sprawl out of it but Smith keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Urso manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rocco Urso has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kendall Smith.

Urso shoots in and bounces Smith off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Urso wants to pass the guard but Smith is keeping the position.

Urso drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Urso jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Smith tries to strike from the bottom.

Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Urso doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Urso manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Urso is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Smith is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Smith has escaped and now he's on top!

Smith has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Urso is proving hard to escape from.

Urso has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smith can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Urso is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Smith drops back looking for a leg! Urso is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Urso manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Urso's guard.
Urso lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Smith!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Urso fails to take his opponent's back.

Smith has left one of his arms exposed and Urso doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Smith screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
