PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Harold Sumrall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keemo Jakkar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Harold Sumrall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Keemo Jakkar!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Jakkar.
Sumrall shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jakkar fails in his attempt to clinch.
Jakkar is looking to clinch.
Jakkar throws a head kick but Sumrall moves out of range.

Jakkar closes the distance and clinches.
Jakkar tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Sumrall misses with a knee to the head.
Sumrall trying to stall but Jakkar improves his position.

Jakkar is fighting off a takedown attempt but Sumrall is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Jakkar to the mat. Jakkar regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Sumrall seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jakkar does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Sumrall slips a nice elbow through Jakkar's hands, connecting with Jakkar's forehead.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Jakkar tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sumrall swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jakkar lands with a nice body kick.

Sumrall isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Jakkar stacks Sumrall on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Jakkar!

Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Jakkar. Sumrall shrugs it off though.
Sumrall shoots in and drives through. Jakkar sprawls well.
Jakkar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

It looks like Harold Sumrall has been cut.
Keemo Jakkar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sumrall digs a good hook to Jakkar's body.

Jakkar closes the distance and clinches.
Sumrall is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Sumrall connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Sumrall tries to score with some ground and pound. Jakkar controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Jakkar is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Sumrall's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Jakkar pushes Sumrall off looking to stand but Sumrall dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jakkar shoots in and bounces Sumrall off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Sumrall has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jakkar can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Sumrall had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jakkar defends it easily.
Jakkar's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Sumrall thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jakkar trying to control the position from guard on top but Sumrall is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sumrall doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Jakkar is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Sumrall looking for a guillotine here but Jakkar defends easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Keemo Jakkar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Sumrall lands a head kick. Jakkar smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sumrall changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jakkar tries to avoid it but Sumrall manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jakkar to the ground. Jakkar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jakkar is looking to clinch.
Jakkar has a takedown stuffed.
Jakkar takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Jakkar shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Sumrall flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Jakkar takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Sumrall is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Sumrall is working hard here to advance position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jakkar can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sumrall is looking to escape.
Sumrall is looking to get to half guard.
Jakkar sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Jakkar looking to control but Sumrall is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Sumrall sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Sumrall looking for a sweep. Not yet Sumrall, not yet.
Sumrall is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jakkar tries to free his leg and advance position but Sumrall is retaining full guard.
Jakkar trying to control but Sumrall is working from the bottom.

Sumrall working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Jakkar has passed into half guard!

Sumrall tries to roll over but Jakkar keeps him under control.

Jakkar decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Sumrall throws a hook but Jakkar avoids it easily.
Jakkar is looking to clinch but Sumrall is avoiding it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jakkar tries to clinch up but Sumrall circles away and keeps his distance.

Sumrall feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Harold Sumrall.
I think Sumrall has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
