Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ferdinando Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Zeca Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz fails with a takedown attempt.

Silva darts in and clinches Diaz up against the cage.

Silva breaks the clinch.
Silva thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Diaz if he has to take too many more of those.
Diaz looks gassed!

Silva feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Diaz sprawling to the canvas! Diaz rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Silva finish him?!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Silva tries for a takedown but Diaz circles away easily

and Diaz counters with a single leg into guard. Silva didn't expect that.

Silva looking for a guillotine here but Diaz defends easily.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Silva holds on and takes a little breather.
Diaz's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Diaz won't allow Silva to get back to his feet.
Diaz wants to pass the guard but Silva is keeping the position.
Diaz trying to control but Silva is working from the bottom.
Diaz stopping the sweep attempt from Silva.
Silva pulls Diaz in close to prevent any damage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Diaz distracts Silva with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Diaz is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Diaz's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Silva trying to move into half guard but instead Diaz has managed to sweep!

Silva is adopting a defensive guard.
Diaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Silva tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Silva is working an open guard so Diaz takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Silva fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Diaz on the side of the head.

Silva gets caught flat footed, as Diaz shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Silva preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Diaz passes Silva's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Diaz is nestled in close to Silva, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Silva is trying to control but can't.
Diaz is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silva is looking for a sweep. Diaz is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Diaz decides to stand up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ferdinando Silva dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Diaz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Silva connects with the punch.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Diaz paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A head kick misses from Diaz.
Diaz is looking to score with low kicks.
Silva connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Silva is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Diaz gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Diaz dives in and grabs Silva's left leg, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes down on Diaz's head and hops out.
Diaz fails to land with a series of punches.
Diaz looks to throw a body kick

and Silva counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Diaz!
Diaz tries to reverse the position but Silva maintains control.
Diaz tries to hold on but Silva pushes him away.

Diaz is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Silva wants to control the pace but Diaz is squirming around nicely.

Diaz bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Diaz stands up and waves to Silva to follow him.
Ferdinando Silva is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Diaz circles away from the clinch attempt.
Silva thows a body shot but no joy.
Diaz shoots and misses

so Silva counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Diaz manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Silva takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Diaz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Silva with a poor takedown

and Diaz counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Diaz passes Silva's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Diaz stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Diaz misses with a takedown

so Silva counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Silva wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving.

Diaz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Silva gets to his feet. Diaz looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Diaz shoots for a takedown but Silva saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Diaz counters with a single leg into guard. Silva didn't expect that.
Diaz with a flurry of punches that miss.
Silva throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Diaz is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Silva looking for a sweep. Not yet Silva, not yet.
Diaz trying to control but Silva is working from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Diaz steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Silva. That one must have hurt.
Diaz is looking to clinch.

Silva wants to stand up but Diaz is controlling him.
Diaz trying to control but Silva is working from the bottom.

Diaz trying to stand up but can't free himself from Silva's guard.
Silva throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Diaz showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Diaz is standing up over Silva. Silva looks to escape but Diaz dives into side control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Diaz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Diaz has his takedown stuffed
and Silva counters with a big head kick but Diaz shrugs it off.
Ferdinando Silva has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zeca Diaz.
Diaz works over Silva's head and body with a nice combination.

Silva drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Diaz is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Silva has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Silva postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

And that's the end of the fight!
Zeca Diaz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Silva has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
