Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between jim sson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
sson stalks Stevens and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Stevens's face. Stevens staggers backwards, shaken.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by sson!
Stevens dodges the punch combination from sson.
sson throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Stevens clinches up against the cage.

Stevens gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Stevens is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Stevens lands a nice short elbow.

sson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Stevens fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. sson sprawls well initially but Stevens persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
sson cracks Stevens with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

sson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Stevens fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but sson avoids it really well and circles away.
Stevens walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Stevens doesn't manage to clinch there - sson circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Stevens tries for a takedown but sson manages to get underhooks.

sson is trying to maintain a safe position but Stevens gets an underhook and turns sson into the cage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
sson wants to get back to striking at distance but Stevens won't allow it.
sson will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Stevens up against the cage.

Stevens shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. sson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

sson will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Stevens with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
sson doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Stevens drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Stevens jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

sson throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Stevens escapes and throws sson's legs to the side, diving into side control!
