PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Knox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georges Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Knox kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Something I Can Never Have. Georges Pierre looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mickey Knox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pierre feints and as Knox raises his hands in defense, Pierre changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Knox is on top in guard.
Knox slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Knox keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Pierre's head.
Knox tries to free his leg and advance position but Pierre is retaining full guard.
Knox is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Knox's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Knox stands up over Pierre, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Knox thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Knox might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Pierre keeping full guard, as Knox tries to pass.
Knox trying to control the position from guard on top but Pierre is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pierre is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Knox throws a big right hand that misses.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pierre is defended easily by Knox.
Pierre looks gassed!

Pierre scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Knox regains half guard.
Knox keeping hold of Pierre's head, controlling as best he can.

Knox makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Knox.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mickey Knox.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Pierre.
Knox is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Knox.
Knox in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Knox has knee on belly and moves into mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Knox cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Knox landing strikes from the mount and Pierre is in trouble!
Knox lands a big elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mickey Knox dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Pierre gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Pierre throws his legs up looking for a submission but Knox uses it to pass to side control.
Knox passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Pierre!
Knox fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Knox sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Knox has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Pierre is breathing heavily.

Knox tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Knox punishing his opponent with strikes.


Pierre is rocked!
Knox looking to finish Pierre with some ground and pound. This is bad for Pierre!
Pierre is still in real trouble! Can Knox finish him?

Knox connects with a bit shot that sees Pierre covering up! More strikes from Knox and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Knox is our winner by TKO!
