Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ren Akita!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Austin Petiwa!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shirou Masuda.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petiwa shoots in but no luck this time.
Akita just misses with a punch to the body.
Petiwa shoots in and drives through. Akita sprawls well.
Petiwa uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Akita.
Akita slaps away a takedown attempt from Petiwa, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ren Akita has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Austin Petiwa.
Akita moves out of range of the body kick.

Akita feints and as Petiwa raises his hands in defense, Akita changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Petiwa looking for a guillotine here but Akita defends easily.

Petiwa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Akita doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Akita manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Akita will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Petiwa preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Akita slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Petiwa is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Akita has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Petiwa is not content to let Akita control the position.

Akita looks up at the clock and then as Petiwa takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Akita smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Akita has hold of Petiwa's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Petiwa tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Akita cranks the arm and Petiwa screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Petiwa, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
