Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bob Sapp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Flip Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bob Sapp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Flip Jones!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shirou Masuda and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sapp defends it nicely.
Jones is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sapp sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Jones dives in and grabs Sapp's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sapp pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.
Bob Sapp has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Flip Jones.
Sapp leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Sapp. No joy for Jones on that attempt.

Jones scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Jones working the strikes but Sapp uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Jones throws a strike but Sapp avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Jones in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Jones postures up in Sapp's guard and throws a big left but Sapp blocks it.
Jones throws and elbow that misses. Sapp uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jones's guard. Nice move by Sapp!

Sapp stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Sapp looks to score with a jab to the body but Jones is just out of range.
Jones moves away from the strike by Sapp.

Jones closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jones lands in his opponent's guard.
Sapp avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Jones looks gassed!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sapp pushes Jones off and scrambles back to his feet.
Jones fails with a takedown attempt.
Sapp connects with a jab.


It looks like Flip Jones has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jones needs to keep his hands up - Sapp had a free shot at his head there.

Sapp pushes Jones up against the cage in a clinch.

Jones wants the takedown. Sapp is fighting it off but Jones persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Sapp's guard against the cage.
Sapp preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Sapp utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Sapp is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones postures up in Sapp's guard and throws a big left but Sapp blocks it.
Jones in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Jones must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Jones with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sapp misses with a straight right.
Sapp misses with a hook. Jones ducked under it nicely.
Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sapp avoids it really well and circles away.
A jab from Sapp finds it's way through Jones's defenses.
Sapp is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Sapp tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance.
Jones on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Sapp gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Sapp wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Sapp breaks the clinch.
Sapp throws a good cross that connects.

Sapp lands a big right hand that sends Jones crashing to the mat! Sapp stays standing though and waves Jones back to his feet!


Jones is rocked!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sapp tries to clinch up.
Jones is still on wobbly legs! Can Sapp finish him?
Sapp fails in his attempt to clinch.
Jones seems to have recovered his senses.
A punch combination from Sapp misses.
Sapp swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sapp lands with a big right hook that stumbles Jones - he's out on his feet here! Sapp follows up with another monster hook that separates Jones from consciousness! Jones falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Sapp stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Bob Sapp!
