PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Click Click Boom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gray Andy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boom is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gray Andy!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Andy sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Andy throws a nice inside leg kick.
Boom is breathing heavily.
Andy shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Andy misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Andy shoots in but Boom avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Click Click Boom has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gray Andy.
Andy misses with a head kick.
Andy fails with a takedown attempt.
Boom defending well as Andy loads up on a big left hand.
No luck for Andy with that takedown attempt.
Nice takedown defense from Boom. No joy for Andy on that attempt.
Boom misses with a series of wild punches.
Andy throws a right hand that Boom ducks under and follows up with a left that Boom also avoids with ease.
Boom is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Andy tries to get to full guard but Boom has control of the leg.
Boom thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Andy's head.

Andy pushes Boom off looking to stand but Boom dives back in and keeps control.
Boom not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Click Click Boom seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boom shoots in for a takedown but Andy shows good takedown defense.
Andy throws a body punch but Boom moves out of range.
Boom circles away from the clinch attempt.
The fight stays on the outside here - Andy looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Andy is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Andy moves out of range as Boom strikes.
Andy shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Boom pinned against the cage. Boom gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Boom's corner calls for a 1-2. Boom obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Boom tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Andy was well out of range. Poor timing from Boom.

Andy works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

and Boom counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Boom.
Andy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Boom is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Andy is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Boom has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Boom throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Andy works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Andy tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Boom stands up over Andy, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Boom fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Boom tries to bum rush Andy with a series of wild strikes but Andy uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Andy misses with a takedown attempt - Boom sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Boom missing with a left hand there. Andy was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Andy shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Boom as he avoids it easily.
Boom scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Boom throws a hook to the side of Andy's head but Andy sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Boom looks to land a right hand but Andy moved out of range.
Andy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Andy tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Boom paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Boom lunges at Andy with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Andy's hand.
Boom connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Boom closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Boom lands in his opponent's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Andy closes the distance and pushes Boom back into the cage.
Andy wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Boom tries to break the clinch but Andy is controlling the position.
Boom changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Andy fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Andy wants the takedown. Boom is fighting it off but Andy persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Boom's guard against the cage.

Boom has control of Andy's left arm, preventing Andy from doing any damage.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Andy slips a jab and a cross from Boom.

Boom shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Boom was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Andy is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Boom is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Andy tries to lock up and control but Boom gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Boom lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Boom pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee warns Andy that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Andy is in a horrible position here. Boom smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Click Click Boom will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Boom scores with a crisp jab that stopped Andy in his tracks.
Andy moves out of range of the strikes.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Andy.
Andy tries to land a front kick but Boom steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Andy lands a jab to the head.
Boom misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Andy is defended easily by Boom.
Boom stalks Andy and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Andy's face. Andy staggers backwards, shaken.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boom pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Andy throws a head kick that misses.

and Boom counters with a right hand to the body.
Click Click Boom has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gray Andy.

Boom stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Andy takes one on the button.
Boom swats away the attempt to clinch by Andy.
Boom connects with a body shot.

Boom shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Andy wants to hold on but Boom pushes him away.
Boom lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Andy regains half guard.
Andy is looking to escape.
Boom with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Andy wants to control but Boom is keeping busy.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Andy tries to roll over but Boom keeps him under control.
Boom takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Andy is staying active underneath Boom, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Boom is nestled in close to Andy, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Andy is looking for a sweep. Boom is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Boom is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Andy has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Boom finds it's way round the side to connect with Andy's head.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Boom looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Boom has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Andy avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Boom, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
