Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, MATT SERRA!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, OJ Santos!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Russell Pearce and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos misses with a head kick.
Nice takedown defense from Santos. No joy for SERRA on that attempt.
Santos doesn't succeed with the takedown

so SERRA counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
SERRA sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Santos keeping moving, preventing SERRA from controlling successfully.
Santos pulls SERRA in close to his closed guard and prevents SERRA from doing any damage or advancing position.
Santos wants to stand and escape but SERRA is having none of it.

Santos being controlled here, momentarily.
Santos is trying to keep SERRA in close.
SERRA stopping the sweep attempt from Santos.
Santos seems keen to control SERRA's posture.

SERRA stands and steps away. Santos gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
SERRA fails with the takedown

and Santos counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
SERRA is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Santos's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Santos's back!
Santos trying to control the position but SERRA manages to sink in the hooks.
SERRA is breathing heavily.
What can Santos do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Santos tries to escape but SERRA has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Santos controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
SERRA scores with strikes from the back.
SERRA is trying to stick to Santos's back but Santos is turning into SERRA. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in SERRA's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Santos.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

SERRA has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Santos off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Nice sprawl there from Santos as SERRA shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for MATT SERRA. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Santos misses with a takedown
and SERRA counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Santos, right into the meat.

Santos looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
SERRA trying to control from the bottom.
Santos is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
SERRA wants to control but Santos is keeping busy and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that MATT SERRA will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Santos looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
SERRA trying to control here.
Santos wants to get back to his feet.
SERRA moves into full guard.
Santos wanted to stand there but SERRA had control of the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

SERRA pushes a forearm under Santos's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Santos is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
