The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mikael shoots for a double leg takedown but sson sprawls well. He's pushed Mikael's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Mikael shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Mikael is controlling the pace.
sson wants to control but Mikael is keeping busy.
Mikael is looking to take a break and control but sson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

sson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mikael, pushing him back against the cage.

sson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Mikael regains guard immediately.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
sson wants to stand but Mikael has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Mikael bucks up and throws sson to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!

Tomi Mikael showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

sson gets caught flat footed, as Mikael shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Mikael stands up and waves to sson to follow him.

sson wants to free his trapped foot but Mikael is holding on for dear life with his legs.
sson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mikael's head.
Mikael is pressing down on sson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mikael throws a lazy head kick

and sson counters by moving into the clinch.
sson lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Mikael's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Mikael tries to work over sson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Mikael has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. sson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Mikael jumps guard and drags sson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mikael throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
sson throws a one two combo.
Mikael has his takedown stuffed
and sson counters with a one-two to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to jim sson.
