PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zeiasu Kenpachi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zeiasu Kenpachi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jon Silva!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Silva was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Silva looking to finish Kenpachi with some ground and pound. This is bad for Kenpachi!
Kenpachi is in all sorts of trouble here.
Kenpachi gets back to half guard.
Kenpachi wants to get back to his feet.

Kenpachi looking for a kimura from the bottom but Silva passes into side control!
Kenpachi is looking for a sweep.
Silva working the ground and pound.
Silva lands a few punches from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kenpachi is trying to buck Silva off.
Silva has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kenpachi on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Silva looks up at the clock and then as Kenpachi takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Silva smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Silva scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Kenpachi to see if he's OK.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva lands a few punches from side control.
Silva lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kenpachi down.

Silva stands up.

Silva gets a takedown into half guard.
Kenpachi is breathing heavily.
Kenpachi has hold of Silva's hands but Silva slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Silva landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Silva perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Kenpachi tries to kick Silva off but Silva keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Silva is looking for a kimura but Kenpachi is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Silva to get the leverage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kenpachi is trying to stand back up but Silva is controlling him
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Silva in particular looking to stall.
I looks like Silva might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Silva wants to control but Kenpachi is keeping him busy.
Kenpachi slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Silva content to stall in guard here.
Silva advances position into side control!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kenpachi throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Kenpachi is looking to reverse the position.
Silva landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Kenpachi pushes Silva away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Silva gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Silva is working to tighten is grip on Kenpachi's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Kenpachi has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Silva is really squeezing tight and eventually Kenpachi passes out! Silva breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jon Silva!
