After initially coming in at 266.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. timothy devance could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Reynald Mercier's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mercier shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. devance is trying to defend but Mercier finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
devance is trying to maintain the position but Mercier is very close to passing his half guard.

Mercier is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
devance is trying to get back to full guard.
devance trying to hold on to Mercier's head to control him but Mercier postures up.

Mercier drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mercier jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Mercier escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. devance gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
devance has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mercier is proving hard to escape from.

Mercier pushes devance off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Mercier avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mercier rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but devance moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
devance keeps the fight on the outside.

Mercier shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mercier was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mercier is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, devance has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Mercier takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

It looks like he might have it! devance tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Mercier cranks the arm and devance screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from devance, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
