Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Reid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gustavo Spitz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gustavo Spitz has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Patrick Reid's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Patrick Reid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gustavo Spitz!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reid decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Reid is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Reid moves into full mount! Spitz won't be happy about that!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reid jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Spitz is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Spitz and Reid has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Reid is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Spitz knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Reid goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Spitz has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Reid but great work by Spitz.

Reid bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Reid drops back, looking for a kneebar! Spitz looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Spitz looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Spitz!

Reid can't do much from the bottom here.
Reid tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Spitz wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Spitz stuffs the takedown attempt from Reid. Reid gets slowly back to his feet.
Reid looks for a takedown but Spitz sprawls well.

Reid changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Spitz tries to avoid it but Reid manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Spitz to the ground. Spitz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Horrible takedown by Reid or perhaps it was just good defense by Spitz which made him look bad.

Spitz moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Reid could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Spitz tries to bum rush Reid with a series of wild strikes but Reid uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Reid seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Spitz has recovered full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Spitz is on top in guard.
Spitz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Spitz throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Reid.
Reid shoots in but Spitz avoids the takedown attempt easily.
