The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marins misses with a looping right.

Garciaz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Marins sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Garciaz somewhat.

Marins closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Garciaz is trying to escape the position but Marins is controlling the position.
Marins seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Garciaz for as long as he can get away with.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Marins goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Garciaz has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Marins but great work by Garciaz.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Marins shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Garciaz is trying to defend but Marins finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Garciaz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Marins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Marins has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
