Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lyoto Machida!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierce shoots for a double leg takedown but Machida sprawls well. He's pushed Pierce's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Machida loads up on a big right hand but Pierce slips the punch.
Pierce shoots in but Machida avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Machida misses with a body kick.
Pierce fails in his attempt to clinch.
Machida slaps away a takedown attempt from Pierce, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Damon Pierce. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pierce shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Machida as he avoids it easily.
Pierce shoots in looking for a takedown. Machida tries to sprawl out of it but Pierce keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Machida manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Pierce looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Machida is fending him off so far but Pierce persists. Nope, Machida circles away and we're back to standing.
Pierce closes the distance and clinches up with Machida, looking for a takedown. Pierce pushes Machida against the cage but Machida circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pierce is trying hard to land a takedown here. Machida sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Horrible takedown by Pierce or perhaps it was just good defense by Machida which made him look bad.
Machida dips to his left and cracks Pierce with an uppercut!
It looks like Damon Pierce has been cut.
Machida looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Machida throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Machida connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Machida moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Pierce shoots in but no luck this time.
Pierce is breathing heavily.
Pierce looks for a takedown but Machida sprawls well.
Pierce takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A right-left combo lands from Machida.
Pierce shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Machida pinned against the cage. Machida gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Pierce takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Pierce has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Machida.
Machida misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Pierce walks into a straight right hand from Machida.

Machida scores with a sloppy right hand. Pierce should have avoided that one.
Damon Pierce's cut is getting worse.
Machida with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Machida fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Pierce. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Pierce drops his hands momentarily and Machida takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Pierce on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Machida throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Machida takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Pierce takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Machida punishes Pierce's body with a nice straight punch.
Crunch! Machida slams his shin into Pierce's torso.
Machida throws a leg kick which misses Pierce's front leg but catches the back leg as Pierce tries to avoid it.
Machida tries a head kick but it misses.
Machida shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Pierce is trying to defend but Machida finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Well, if Machida is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Lyoto Machida dominated that round.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Machida lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pierce circles away quickly and effectively.

and Machida counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Machida counters with an inside leg kick.
Oooh a lovely combination from Machida sends Pierce down but not out. Machida dives into side control looking to finish.

Lyoto Machida showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Jeez, Damon Pierce's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Pierce shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Machida lands with a kick to the temple. Pierce shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Oh Pierce is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Damon Pierce's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
