Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gabriel Cavalcante!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Santino Moralez!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Matheus Silva and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Moralez misses with a takedown attempt - Cavalcante sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Cavalcante fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cavalcante shoots and misses
and Moralez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Moralez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Moralez showed some decent athleticism there.
Moralez prevents Cavalcante from improving his position.

Cavalcante looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Cavalcante is looking for a sweep. Moralez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cavalcante is not content to let Moralez control the position.
Moralez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cavalcante. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Moralez wants to pass the guard but Cavalcante is defending well.
Moralez is keen to just control but Cavalcante is a slippery customer.
Cavalcante keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Moralez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Moralez closes the distance and lands a one-two.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Moralez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

and Cavalcante counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Cavalcante wants to control from the top but Moralez keeps moving.
Cavalcante not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Cavalcante drops back, looking for a kneebar! Moralez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Moralez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Moralez!
Cavalcante wants to control but Moralez postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moralez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cavalcante keeps working.
Moralez looks gassed!
Cavalcante is looking to reverse the position.

Moralez swings around for an armbar but Cavalcante sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Moralez's guard.
Cavalcante makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cavalcante wants to control from the top but Moralez keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Gabriel Cavalcante.
Cavalcante doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Moralez counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Cavalcante working for a triangle but Moralez defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Cavalcante pushes a forearm under Moralez's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Moralez is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
