The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Mauricio Rocha and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palowakski throws an overhand right that lands on Diaz's shoulder, as Diaz tries to avoid the shot.
Palowakski moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Diaz goes down! Can Palowakski finish him!?


Diaz is rocked!


It looks like Flavio Diaz has been cut.
Palowakski has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Diaz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Palowakski controls the pace.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Palowakski wants to stand but Diaz has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Palowakski tries to free his leg and advance position but Diaz is retaining full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Palowakski throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Diaz tries to clinch but Palowakski is having none of it.
Fred Palowakski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Diaz misses with a hook. Palowakski ducked under it nicely.

Palowakski tries to clinch there but Diaz circles away.

Palowakski fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Diaz misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Palowakski.
Diaz misses with a punch to the body.
Palowakski prevents a takedown attempt there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Palowakski tries to break the clinch but Diaz is controlling the position.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Palowakski takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Diaz wants to break the clinch but can't.

Palowakski breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Diaz slips a jab from Palowakski.
Palowakski stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.


That has opened up Flavio Diaz's cut even more.
Palowakski just misses with a punch to the body.
Diaz takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Diaz looks gassed!

Palowakski drives through and clinches with Diaz against the ropes.
Palowakski can't break the clinch.
Palowakski gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Diaz.
Palowakski lands with a left to the head.

Palowakski breaks from the clinch.

Palowakski clinches up with Diaz and pushes him back against the ropes.

Palowakski breaks from the clinch.
Palowakski misses with a double jab.
Palowakski tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Diaz counters with a head kick.

Palowakski scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Diaz throws a leg kick which misses Palowakski's front leg but catches the back leg as Palowakski tries to avoid it.
Palowakski scores with a sloppy right hand. Diaz should have avoided that one.
A lazy left from Palowakski finds it's target.
Fred Palowakski is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Palowakski walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Diaz drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Palowakski swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Diaz's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fred Palowakski!
