PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Flash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunner Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hansen has chosen The Prodigy - Breathe as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeff Flash!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Gunner Hansen!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hansen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Flash avoids it really well and circles away.

Flash scores with a takedown into Hansen's guard.
Flash lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Flash stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hansen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Flash drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Flash jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Flash avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Flash looking to pass the guard.

Hansen has his foot on Flash's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Flash works his way back into a safe position though.

Flash in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Flash got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hansen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Flash has managed to get both his arms back between Hansen's legs - danger averted.

Hansen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Flash pulls his head out easily.

Flash distracts Hansen with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Hansen throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Flash escapes and throws Hansen's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Flash is looking to take a break and control but Hansen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Flash cracks Hansen with a big right hand but Hansen just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Flash tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Flash has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hansen gets back to half guard.
Flash lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hansen takes one on the button.

Flash fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hansen sprawls well initially but Flash persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Flash lands with a punch from half guard.

Flash with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Hansen is pulling down on Flash's head. It's preventing any offense from Flash, at least for the moment.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Flash accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Flash is really struggling to control Hansen but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hansen has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Hansen wants to hit a switch here but Flash passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Hansen there!

A nice elbow there by Flash.
Flash scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Flash has control of Hansen's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hansen regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Hansen is looking to improve his position but Flash isn't that keen on the idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Hansen takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Flash wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hansen keeps working.

Hansen is looking to sinch up a triangle. Flash throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Hansen's body to avoid the submission. Hansen has instead reached around Flash's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Hansen arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
