Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rickson Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Partridge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alex Partridge has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Rickson Gracie's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rickson Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Partridge!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie blocks a jab.
Partridge just misses with a punch to the body.
Gracie checks a leg kick.
Partridge loads up on a big right hand but Gracie slips the punch.
Gracie could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Partridge throws a combination. Gracie tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Rickson Gracie has been cut.
Partridge throws a shot to the body.
Partridge showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Gracie.

Gracie scores a takedown into full mount!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Partridge is trying to escape the mount.
Gracie avoids the attempt from Partridge to control.
Gracie raining down shots from the mount!
Gracie cracks Partridge with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Partridge holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Gracie tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Gracie swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Partridge is now in Gracie's guard. A big mistake from Gracie there, giving up the dominant position!

Gracie can't keep his opponent in guard - Partridge advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gracie has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Partridge is working away from the top position though.
Gracie works his way to full guard. Good work.

Partridge is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Gracie looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Gracie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Partridge can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Partridge tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Gracie avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Gracie is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Partridge thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Partridge thuds a left hand into Gracie's body.
Partridge's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Partridge duly obliges.
Partridge lands with a cross.
Partridge throws a right and a left that both miss.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
The fighters circling - Gracie throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Gracie displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Partridge throws out the jab.
Gracie throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Alex Partridge seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gracie feints and as Partridge raises his hands in defense, Gracie changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Partridge is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Partridge manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Partridge's guard.

Partridge lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Gracie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Partridge sprawls well initially but Gracie persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Gracie is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Partridge has managed to free his arm - good work.
Partridge is looking to improve his position.
Gracie thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Partridge's head.
Partridge wants to control but Gracie is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gracie throws a head kick but Partridge moves out of range.
Partridge swings for the body but Gracie moves out of range.

Partridge gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gracie to score an easy takedown into full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Partridge is desperately trying to improve his position but Gracie has a good base and remains in mount.
Partridge is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Gracie misses with a jab, cross combination.
Gracie lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Partridge circles away quickly and effectively.
Rickson Gracie is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Partridge stalks Gracie and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Gracie's face. Gracie staggers backwards, shaken.

Partridge gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Gracie sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Partridge's guard.
Partridge tries to roll over but Gracie keeps him under control.
Partridge is staying active underneath Gracie, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Partridge is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Gracie scores with a couple of nice shots.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Gracie passes to full mount!

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Partridge tries to improve his position but Gracie has taken his back! Gracie has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Partridge tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Gracie pushes Partridge away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Rickson Gracie!
