PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ares Summers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Flauterio Toglas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Toglas has chosen Bodies as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Flauterio Toglas told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ares Summers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Flauterio Toglas!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Ren Mimura and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toglas keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Toglas misses with a kick to the body.
Summers checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Toglas throws a one two combo.
Summers thows a leg kick but Toglas checks it
and Toglas counters with a left to the body.
Summers has his takedown stuffed
and Toglas counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

enabling Toglas to counter with a crisp jab.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ares Summers. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Toglas tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Toglas throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Summers.
Toglas throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Summers fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Toglas sprawls well initially but Summers persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Toglas sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Summers is trying to work for a kimura but Toglas is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Toglas is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Summers pulls his head out easily.

Toglas tries to kick Summers off but Summers keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Summers is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Toglas doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Summers.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Summers wants to free his trapped foot but Toglas is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Toglas is trying to maintain the position but Summers is very close to passing his half guard.

Toglas is looking for a sweep. Summers is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Summers lands a nice short elbow.

Toglas is refusing to be controlled, as Summers sits in half guard.
Summers slips a nice elbow through Toglas's hands, connecting with Toglas's forehead.
Summers is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Toglas is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Summers has control of Toglas's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Toglas regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Summers fails with the takedown
and Toglas cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Summers slips a jab and a cross from Toglas.
Summers misses with a takedown
and Toglas counters with a stiff right hand.
Toglas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Summers circles away quickly and effectively.

Summers feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Summers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Toglas has his foot on Summers's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Summers works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Summers is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Toglas is surviving well by controlling Summers's body position as best he can.

Toglas tries to improve his position but Summers has taken his back! Summers has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Toglas tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Summers pushes Toglas away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
