Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Grigory Stensky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Karl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stensky's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, robocop remix. Karl has chosen Dawn of Demise - Juggernaut as his entrance music. John Karl will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stensky shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Stensky is looking for a kimura here.
Karl wants to get back to his feet.

Stensky seems to be working for a kimura but Karl defends the submission attempt.
Stensky stops Karl from getting back to his feet.
Karl works his way to full guard. Good work.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Karl wants to stand but Stensky is controlling the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Karl lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Stensky shoots in and drives through. Karl sprawls well.
Stensky shoots in looking for a takedown. Karl tries to sprawl out of it but Stensky keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Karl manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Karl throws a head kick that half lands.
Nice sprawl there from Karl as Stensky shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Grigory Stensky. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stensky shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Karl pinned against the cage. Karl gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Stensky is breathing heavily.

Karl lands a big head kick that sends Stensky tumbling to the mat! Karl takes a step backwards and waves Stensky back to his feet - he wants the finish!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Karl cracks a nice hook into Stensky's ribs.
John Karl is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Karl cracks Stensky with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Stensky looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Karl finish him?

Stensky is rocked!
Stensky drops his hands momentarily. Karl doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Stensky staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Stensky doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Karl!
