Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eugene Canedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and snatch pounder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). snatch pounder has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eugene Canedo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, snatch pounder!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Bruno Hogan and Summer Carpenter.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
pounder checks a low kick from Canedo.
Canedo scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Canedo avoids the body shot from pounder.
Canedo's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Canedo duly obliges.
pounder avoids a punch combination nicely.
pounder scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Canedo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but pounder circles away quickly and effectively.

and pounder counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Canedo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
pounder jabs Canedo right on the nose. Canedo blinks but takes it well.

Canedo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
No joy there for Canedo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

pounder is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
pounder is looking to work some ground and pound but Canedo has wrist control.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by snatch pounder.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by pounder as Canedo tries to tie him up.

Canedo tightens his grip and picks pounder up, before dumping him to the ground. pounder manages to land in guard.

Canedo got a little sloppy there for a moment and pounder has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Canedo has managed to get both his arms back between pounder's legs - danger averted.
Canedo won't allow pounder to sweep him here.
Canedo lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Canedo throws and elbow that misses. pounder uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Canedo's guard. Nice move by pounder!

Canedo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and pounder defends well.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Canedo has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes pounder off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

and pounder takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Canedo will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Canedo rushes pounder and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Canedo pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Canedo works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Canedo can't find room to land a body shot as pounder controls the action.

Canedo has had enough of the clinch but pounder keeps him there for the moment.

Canedo is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. pounder can't fight it off and eventually Canedo manages to take the fight to the floor. pounder looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Canedo stands up over pounder, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Eugene Canedo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Canedo is looking to take a break and control but pounder is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Canedo takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Canedo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed pounder's head.

pounder looks for a takedown but Canedo sprawls well.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A jab-cross combination lands for Canedo and sends pounder crashing to the mat! Canedo follows him down to the mat - pounder regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
