Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brett James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and sam miguel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Brett James has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
miguel tries to clinch there but James circles away.

James throws a right and a left that both miss.

miguel moves into range and clinches up with James.
miguel drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
James wants to get back to striking at distance but miguel won't allow it.

James is looking to take a break and control but miguel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James throws an overhand right that lands on miguel's shoulder, as miguel tries to avoid the shot.

miguel takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

James moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
miguel wants to clinch up but James keeps it at a distance.

James will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
James stuffs the takedown attempt from miguel. miguel gets slowly back to his feet.
James shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has miguel pinned against the cage. miguel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

miguel winds up and cracks James with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
miguel connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

miguel lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
miguel has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of James's face.

miguel jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but James manages to avoid the submission attempt.

miguel wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by James, who protects the arm well.
