The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wade looks to land a left hand but Williams moved out of range nicely.
Williams shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Wade manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Williams tries to free his leg and advance position but Wade is retaining full guard.
Williams throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wade works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Williams wants to pass the guard but Wade is keeping the position.
Williams postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Williams has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Williams drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Wade dives on top into guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A head kick misses from Williams.
Wade leaves Williams with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Wade throws a hook but Williams avoids it easily.
Williams has a takedown stuffed.
Williams throws a right and a left that both miss.
Williams moves out of range of the strikes.
A clash of legs there as Wade blocks the low kick.
Williams throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Wade's waist but Wade gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Williams off to one side.
Gary Wade has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rex Williams.
Wade uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Williams shoots in but Wade avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Rex Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Williams.
Williams pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Wade throws a head kick that misses.
Williams shoots for a double leg takedown but Wade sprawls well. He's pushed Williams's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Williams shoots in looking for a takedown. Wade tries to sprawl out of it but Williams keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wade manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Wade throws a nice looking combination but Williams bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
No joy there for Wade, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Williams throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Williams moves away from the strike by Wade.
Wade works Williams's body with a nice hook.
Williams throws a sloppy head kick
and Wade counters with a low kick, right behind Williams 's knee.

Wade fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Williams on the side of the head.

Wade misses with a double jab
and Williams counters with a shoot takedown. Wade fights it but they end up in guard.
Wade has control of Williams's left arm, preventing Williams from doing any damage.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Williams trying to control the position from guard on top but Wade is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Gary Wade will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
A left and a right from Wade both land. Nice combination.
Wade tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Williams was well out of range. Poor timing from Wade.

Williams throws a low kick but it's checked well by Wade.

and Williams takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Wade counters with a left and a right that stings Williams.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wade drops Williams with a naaaaasty hook - Williams is in real trouble here! Wade dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
