PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Almighty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Huell Howser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Howser has chosen Calilfornia Uber Alles as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Huell Howser!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Hugh Johnson and John Mangel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Howser lands a left and a right that send Almighty crashing to the mat, dazed. Howser thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Bruce Almighty has been cut.
Almighty will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Howser throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Howser looks for a takedown but Almighty sprawls well.
Almighty tries a head kick but it misses.
Almighty misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Almighty lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Howser has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Howser and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Almighty is looking to slow Howser down with leg kicks.

Howser feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Almighty tries to kick Howser off in order to stand up. Howser Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Almighty is working for a kimura but Howser is defending it quite comfortably.
Howser has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Almighty is working away from the top position though.

Almighty looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Almighty will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Almighty swings around for an armbar but Howser sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Almighty's guard.
Almighty wants to hit a switch here but Howser passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Almighty there!

Almighty is looking to improve his position but Howser isn't that keen on the idea.
Howser takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Almighty bucks Howser off and manages to get back to his feet!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close round but I would say that Bruce Almighty will probably get the nod.
