Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vini de Oliveira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rick Welsh!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Emerson Jorge and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Welsh clinches up with de Oliveira and pushes him back against the cage.
de Oliveira wants a takedown but no success here.

Welsh's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nice takedown defense from Welsh. No joy for de Oliveira on that attempt.

de Oliveira drops back looking for a leg! Welsh is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Welsh manages to kick de Oliveira off! de Oliveira jumps back into Welsh's guard.

Welsh throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! de Oliveira escapes and throws Welsh's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Welsh is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

de Oliveira seems to be looking for submissions.
Welsh works his way to full guard. Good work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Welsh manages to get to full guard.

de Oliveira looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Welsh has picked de Oliveira up and slammed him! de Oliveira can't keep hold of the triangle and Welsh manages to pass to side control!

Welsh tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Welsh has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Welsh swings around for an armbar but de Oliveira sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Welsh's guard.

Rick Welsh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

de Oliveira frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Welsh tries to reverse the position but de Oliveira maintains control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

de Oliveira moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Welsh.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
