Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Quentom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trevor Lahey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jackson Quentom!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Trevor Lahey!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lahey misses with a series of wild punches.
Good exchange - Lahey coming out on top.
Lahey throws a hook to the side of Quentom's head but Quentom sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Lahey jabs Quentom right on the nose. Quentom blinks but takes it well.
Lahey misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Quentom.

Lahey shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Quentom napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Quentom on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Quentom tries to get out of the position.

Lahey postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Quentom sneaks back into half guard.

Quentom is not content to let Lahey control the position.
Quentom gets full guard.
Quentom manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lahey manages to get himself to full guard.
Lahey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Quentom. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lahey is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lahey being controlled here, momentarily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lahey scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Horrible takedown by Lahey or perhaps it was just good defense by Quentom which made him look bad.
Lahey shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Quentom but Quentom pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Lahey avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Lahey tries to keep at a distance but Quentom has taken the fight into the clinch.

Jackson Quentom has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trevor Lahey.
Lahey changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Quentom fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Quentom shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lahey but Lahey pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Quentom is looking to land body kicks.

Quentom walks into a jab.
Quentom takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Quentom tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lahey misses with a hook. Quentom ducked under it nicely.

and Quentom counters with a single leg into guard. Lahey didn't expect that.
Quentom won't allow Lahey to sweep him here.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Quentom gets to his feet - Lahey follows without any prompting.

Quentom has managed to clinch.
Lahey is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Quentom gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Quentom wants to break the clinch but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Quentom manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Quentom has Lahey pressed against the cage, preventing Lahey from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Quentom blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Lahey throws a head punch that misses.
Lahey is trying to break the clinch but Quentom is controlling him.

Quentom pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Quentom misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Lahey throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Quentom stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Quentom tries to clinch up.
Quentom takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!


Lahey lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Lahey throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Quentom on the side of the head.
No luck for Quentom with that takedown attempt.

Quentom tries to bench press Lahey off him but Lahey keeps the position.
Lahey creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Quentom on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Quentom is trying to control Lahey's posture but Lahey avoids it.

Lahey in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and Quentom looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Lahey turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
