Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vinnie Cook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hill has chosen Moby - Extreme Ways as his entrance music. Jason Hill will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hill tries to clinch there but Cook circles away.
Jason Hill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hill looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hill throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hill tries to clinch up but Cook circles away and keeps his distance.
Nice sprawl there from Cook as Hill shoots in.

Hill decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Cook tries to roll over but Hill keeps him under control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hill dives in and grabs Cook's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cook pushes down on Hill's head and hops out.
Vinnie Cook has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Hill.
A head kick misses from Hill.
Hill with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Cook is breathing heavily.
Hill tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hill throws a right hand that Cook ducks under and follows up with a left that Cook also avoids with ease.

Hill rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cook moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hill closes the distance but Cook moves to the side

and Cook counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Hill's guard now.

Cook drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cook jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Cook has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Cook throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Cook postures up.
Hill utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hill looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Cook drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hill looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hill looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hill!
Cook tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hill wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Cook is working hard here to advance position.
Cook is not content to let Hill control the position.
Cook prevents Hill from moving into mount.

Hill decides to stand up, so the ref orders Cook to his feet.

Cook tries to keep at a distance but Hill has taken the fight into the clinch.

Hill breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hill gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Cook counters with a takedown into side control.

Cook wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hill, who protects the arm well.
The ground and pound from Cook seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cook throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Hill is trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Vinnie Cook will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Hill throws a head kick but Cook moves out of range.

Hill shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Cook avoids a series of strikes thrown by Hill.
Cook bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Cook has gone for a leg lock! Hill slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cook's guard.

Cook had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hill defends it easily.
Hill with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Cook throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hill breaks the clinch.

Hill fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cook sprawls well initially but Hill persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hill wants to stand up but Cook has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Hill is trying to control the action in half guard but Cook is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Hill is keen to just control but Cook is a slippery customer.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hill.

Vinnie Cook overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Cook moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Hill has worked his arm free - good work by Hill!

Cook thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Hill regains half guard.

Cook is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hill doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cook.
Hill manages to get to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Hill showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cook cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Cook looking to ground and pound but Hill is blocking nicely.

Cook goes for an armbar but Hill turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Hill.

Cook throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Hill escapes and throws Cook's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Hill decides to take the fight back to the feet.

and Cook counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Vinnie Cook has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Hill.

Cook is working for a kimura but Hill is defending it quite comfortably.

Cook looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Cook looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hill pushes Cook off looking to stand but Cook dives back in and keeps control.

Vinnie Cook showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Cook has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
