The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

renfro decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Maya is staying active underneath renfro, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

renfro wants to work for an arm triangle but Maya is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Maya kicks renfro off and gets back to his feet.

renfro closes the distance and pushes Maya back into the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Maya's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Maya is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! renfro is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! renfro has escaped and now he's on top!
renfro is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
renfro postures up in Maya's guard and throws a big left but Maya blocks it.
renfro wants to control from the top but Maya keeps moving.
renfro throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Maya works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

renfro drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Maya manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now renfro has Maya in his guard.

Maya throws a good cross that connects.
renfro shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Maya pinned against the cage. Maya gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
