Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pate Rakko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rogerio Werdum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pate Rakko has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pate Rakko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rogerio Werdum!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rakko fails with a takedown attempt.
Rakko shoots for a takedown but Werdum saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Werdum misses with a wild combination.
Werdum throws a right and a left that both miss.

Werdum slaps away a takedown attempt from Rakko, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Rakko shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rakko showed some decent athleticism there.

Rakko got a little sloppy there for a moment and Werdum has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rakko has managed to get both his arms back between Werdum's legs - danger averted.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rakko shoots in looking for a takedown. Werdum tries to sprawl out of it but Rakko keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Werdum manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A telegraphed right hand from Werdum misses the target.

BOOM! Rakko connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Werdum tries to lock up and control but Rakko gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Rakko drops back, looking for a kneebar! Werdum looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Werdum looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Werdum!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rakko seems a little lost for a moment, as Werdum dominates the positioning.

Werdum fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rakko sprawls well initially but Werdum persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Werdum remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rakko closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rakko lands in his opponent's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Rakko gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Werdum to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Rakko will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Werdum seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Well Werdum has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
