Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paavo Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Owen Schmitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schmitt has chosen In God We Trust - Stryper as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and Andrew Berry.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmitt misses with a looping left.
Schmitt throws a hook to the side of Smith's head but Smith sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Smith avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Schmitt tries to bum rush Smith with a series of wild strikes but Smith uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Schmitt takes one to the chin there.
Schmitt throws a half hearted mid kick.

Smith fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Schmitt sprawls well initially but Smith persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Schmitt tries to get to full guard but Smith has control of the leg.
Schmitt is pressing down on Smith's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Schmitt is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Smith defends well.
Schmitt looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Smith puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Schmitt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Smith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Schmitt keeps working.
Smith looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Smith is taking a breather. Schmitt says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Schmitt loads up on a big right hand but Smith slips the punch.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Smith misses with a wild body shot.
Smith swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Schmitt throws a body punch but Smith moves out of range.

Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Schmitt is staying active underneath Smith, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Schmitt manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Schmitt stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Smith throws up his legs and catches Schmitt in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Schmitt tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Smith! That came out of nowhere!
