Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Nanak Singh!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Evan Smtih!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Roberts and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Singh throws a low kick but Smtih moves out of range easily.
Smtih connects with a right hand. Singh shakes it off.
Singh misses with a body kick.
Singh on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Smtih will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Smtih turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Smtih looks to score with a jab to the body but Singh is just out of range.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smtih is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Singh to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Singh shrugs it off.

Smtih has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Good leg kick by Smtih there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Smtih lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Smtih closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Singh to the mat! Singh manages to get full guard.

Smtih got a little sloppy there for a moment and Singh has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smtih has managed to get both his arms back between Singh's legs - danger averted.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smtih is on top in guard.

Singh throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Evan Smtih seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Singh lands a high kick to the side of Smtih's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Singh dives into guard, looking to finish.
Smtih controls Singh momentarily but Singh frees himself.
Singh won't allow Smtih to sweep him here.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Smtih looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Singh with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Smtih is looking to advance position but Singh won't allow it.
Singh manages to get to full guard.

Smtih drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smtih jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Smtih content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Singh has locked up a guillotine! Singh's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Smtih is holding on here and Singh must be using up a lot of energy. Smtih has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Singh gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
