The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Engelbrekt looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Salim misses the target.

Salim throws a series of punches but Engelbrekt avoids them all with ease.

Engelbrekt closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Salim quickly recovers to half guard.
Salim is trying to stand.
Engelbrekt wants to take a breather but Salim is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Engelbrekt is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Salim defends it well.

Engelbrekt fails with a takedown attempt.
Salim cracks Engelbrekt with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Sigvard Engelbrekt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Engelbrekt shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Salim pinned against the cage. Salim gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Salim is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Engelbrekt.

Engelbrekt throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Salim tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Engelbrekt is in Salim's guard.
Salim wants to stand and escape but Engelbrekt is having none of it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Engelbrekt drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Salim dives on top into guard.

Engelbrekt is trying to keep Salim in close.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Engelbrekt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Salim gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Engelbrekt is working an open guard so Salim takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Salim misses with a hook. Engelbrekt ducked under it nicely.
Engelbrekt looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Salim is fending him off so far but Engelbrekt persists. Nope, Salim circles away and we're back to standing.
