Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leandro Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Cavalcante (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leandro Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gabriel Cavalcante!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Thiago Cunha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves throws a half hearted mid kick.
An inside leg kick from Alves misses.

Cavalcante closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Alves is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Cavalcante is controlling him well.

Cavalcante is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Alves is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Cavalcante looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Cavalcante sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Alves is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alves takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Alves pushes Cavalcante away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Cavalcante gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Cavalcante is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Alves is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Cavalcante throws an elbow but Alves slips to the side and avoids it well.
Alves knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cavalcante on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Cavalcante tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The ground and pound from Cavalcante seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Cavalcante is working to tighten is grip on Alves's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Alves has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Cavalcante is really squeezing tight and eventually Alves passes out! Cavalcante breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Gabriel Cavalcante!
