PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joe Foe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Manson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Manson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Indian War Song. Charles Manson will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Charles Manson!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manson throws a leg kick but Foe checks it.
Nice takedown defense from Manson. No joy for Foe on that attempt.
No luck for Foe with that takedown attempt.
Foe shoots in and drives through. Manson sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Foe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Foe throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Manson sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Manson pushes Foe away with a front kick.
Foe will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

No luck for Foe with that takedown attempt.
Manson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Manson throws a wild body kick that Foe sees coming a mile off.
Manson moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

It looks like Joe Foe has been cut.
Foe takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Manson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Foe loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Manson is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Foe wants to control from the top but Manson keeps moving.

Foe drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Manson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Foe has Manson in his guard.
Manson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Foe is proving hard to escape from.

Foe controls Manson momentarily but Manson frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Manson tries to stand but Foe is controlling from the bottom.

Foe has his foot on Manson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Manson works his way back into a safe position though.

Foe working for submissions but it's allowed Manson to get to half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Manson postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Foe to stand up.

Manson throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Foe's head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Foe closes the distance and clinches up with Manson, looking for a takedown. Foe pushes Manson against the cage but Manson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Foe fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Manson avoids it really well and circles away.

Foe stops Manson from standing up.
Foe wants to control from the top but Manson keeps moving.

Manson wriggles free and stands up.
Manson throws a head kick that half lands.
Manson scores with a nice body kick.

Manson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A nice leg kick lands there from Manson.
Manson lets loose with a powerful body kick. Foe will feel that in the morning.

Foe sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Manson looks for the body kick but Foe saw that one coming.
Manson throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Foe takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Foe takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Foe on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Foe takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Foe is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Foe shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Manson as he jumps to the side.
Manson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Foe at a distance.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Manson.
Manson throws a sloppy head kick and Foe moves out of range easily.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Manson, as that shot connected.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Manson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Foe was well out of range. Poor timing from Manson.

Manson throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charles Manson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Manson lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Manson thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Foe if he has to take too many more of those.

Manson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Manson is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Manson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Manson throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Foe.
A solid leg kick lands there for Manson.
Foe takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Good leg kick by Manson there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Manson connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Manson misses with a body kick.
Manson throws a leg kick but Foe sees it coming and moves out of range.
Manson throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Foe takes a head kick and keeps coming.


Joe Foe's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Manson thumps Foe with a low kick.
Foe is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Joe Foe is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Manson scores with a nice body kick.

Manson throws a leg kick but Foe checks it.
Manson throws a nice inside leg kick.
Manson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Foe scores with a takedown into Manson's guard.
Foe might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Foe has gone for a leg lock! Manson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Foe's guard.

Foe escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Manson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Manson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Foe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Foe bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Manson is not content to let Foe control the position.
Manson tries to kick Foe off but Foe keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Charles Manson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Manson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Joe Foe has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

I've got Manson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
