Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Todd Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rip James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Death Bound. James has chosen What's the difference as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Todd Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rip James!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shirou Masuda and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Anderson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Anderson lands a nice short elbow.
James wants to improve his position but Anderson is controlling well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
James tries to free his leg and advance position but Anderson is retaining full guard.

James has gone for a leg lock! Anderson slips out almost immediately though and dives into James's guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

James is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Anderson is aware though and is defending well.
Anderson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

James is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
James looks to land a strike but Anderson avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

James drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Anderson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now James has Anderson in his guard.

James wants to stand but Anderson is controlling the position.

James throws a strike but Anderson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

James shoots in and drives through. Anderson sprawls well.
Anderson misses with a series of wild punches.

James closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Anderson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. James is working away from the top position though.

James looks to land a strike but Anderson avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Anderson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. James manages to get himself to full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Anderson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
James utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
James is trying to control the position but Anderson postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Anderson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Anderson throws a big right hand that misses.

Anderson wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
Anderson won't allow James to sweep him here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Anderson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Todd Anderson.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


James throws an overhand right that lands on Anderson's shoulder, as Anderson tries to avoid the shot.
James throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Anderson swings for the body but James moves out of range.
James just misses with a punch to the body.
The fighters circling - James throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
James moves out of range as Anderson throws a body kick.
Anderson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but James manages to avoid it.
Anderson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says James as he avoids it easily.

Anderson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Anderson lands in his opponent's guard.
Anderson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
James looking for a sweep. Not yet James, not yet.
Anderson looking to sit in guard and control but James gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

James wants to control from the top but Anderson keeps moving.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rip James has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Anderson is pushing down on James's leg trying to pass to half guard. James is fighting to maintain full guard but Anderson has managed to sneak the leg through.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Anderson connects with a nice short shot to James's temple.

Well Anderson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
