The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Velilkov changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Submitt looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Submitt is not content to let Velilkov control the position.

Velilkov is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Submitt is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Velilkov working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Velilkov in side control, throwing shots but Submitt defends.

Velilkov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Submitt is looking to reverse the position.

Submitt is looking to sinch up a triangle. Velilkov throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Submitt's body to avoid the submission. Submitt has instead reached around Velilkov's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Submitt arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
