Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lyoto Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcos Teixeira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machida comes to the cage accompanied by the dragon. Marcos Teixeira will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Teixeira misses with the combination.
Teixeira misses with a takedown attempt - Machida sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Teixeira is looking to clinch but Machida is avoiding it.

Machida drives through with a takedown into guard.
Teixeira can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Machida controls the pace.
Machida seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Teixeira for as long as he can get away with.
Teixeira lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Machida!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Lyoto Machida just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Machida shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Teixeira is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

and Machida counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Teixeira's guard now.
Machida stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Teixeira swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Teixeira pushes Machida off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Machida has control of Teixeira's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Teixeira regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Teixeira fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Machida.
Teixeira works over Machida's head and body with a nice combination.

Machida seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Teixeira shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Machida is backing up but Teixeira catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Machida covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Teixeira Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
