Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hade Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Halfway Crook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wood kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Mama Said Knock You Out. Crook has chosen Shook Ones pt II as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Halfway Crook!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wood tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Crook was well out of range. Poor timing from Wood.

Wood displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Crook throws out the jab.
Wood throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Wood lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Crook circles away quickly and effectively.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Wood decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Crook's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wood sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Crook's guard.
Wood wants to free his trapped foot but Crook is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Wood seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Crook does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Wood wants to advance to full mount but Crook doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

The fighters circle momentarily. Wood darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Wood throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Crook tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Wood is in Crook's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Crook can do anything to dispel that myth.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Wood fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Crook sprawls well initially but Wood persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Wood can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Crook is looking to escape.
Wood thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Halfway Crook has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Wood is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Crook can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Crook wants to control but Wood is having none of it.
Wood throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Crook because Wood loaded up on that one.
Wood can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Crook is looking to escape.
Crook avoids a strike by Wood and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Wood's guard! Fantastic escape!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
