Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Francisco Olivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, OJ Sampson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Sampson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sampson throws a nice head kick!
Olivera has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Sampson finds it's way round the side to connect with Olivera's head.
Sampson lands a head kick. Olivera smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


Olivera is rocked!
Olivera connects with a nice looking jab.
Oh Olivera is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Francisco Olivera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sampson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Olivera, pushing him back against the cage.
Olivera wants a takedown but no success here.
Olivera stalling in the clinch but Sampson improves position.
Olivera jumps guard but Sampson stands there with Olivera around his waist. Olivera gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Sampson unloads a knee to the mid-section. Olivera lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Sampson jumps guard and drags Olivera to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Olivera seems to have got his legs back now.

Olivera has gone for a leg lock! Sampson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Olivera's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Olivera escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sampson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Olivera is on top in guard.
Sampson wants to get back to his feet but Olivera is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Olivera tries to free his leg and advance position but Sampson is retaining full guard.

Olivera is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Sampson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Sampson has escaped and now he's on top!
Olivera tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Olivera is breathing heavily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Olivera looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sampson is one step ahead there.

Olivera had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Sampson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Olivera Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Sampson's back instead.

Olivera looking to break Sampson's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Sampson remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Olivera will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Olivera working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Sampson is doing well to defend. Olivera seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Sampson is forced to tap and this one is over!
