PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Leopold Raskalnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Logan Creed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Creed has chosen Ted Nugent - Stranglehold as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Logan Creed has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Leopold Raskalnikov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Logan Creed!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Viktor Lagutenko and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raskalnikov ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Raskalnikov throws a sloppy head kick and Creed moves out of range easily.
Creed misses with a straight left.
Leopold Raskalnikov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Raskalnikov tries to land a leg kick but Creed saw it coming and moves away.
Raskalnikov scores with a leg kick.
Nice defenses there by Raskalnikov.
Creed slips a jab and a cross from Raskalnikov.
Creed checks a leg kick nicely.
Raskalnikov bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Creed throws a body punch but Raskalnikov moves out of range.
Creed tries to close the distance and clinch but Raskalnikov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Creed connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Raskalnikov attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Creed misses with a looping left.

and Creed counters with a nice double leg into side control. Raskalnikov won't be happy with that.
Creed is looking to take a break and control but Raskalnikov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Creed working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Creed advances to full mount.

Creed can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Raskalnikov is looking to escape.
Raskalnikov is controlling an arm, preventing Creed from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Raskalnikov is squirming around, avoiding Creed's attempts to control the action.

Raskalnikov is looking to improve his position but Creed isn't that keen on the idea.

Creed goes for an armbar but Raskalnikov turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Raskalnikov.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Creed misses with a takedown attempt - Raskalnikov sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Creed fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Raskalnikov manages to avoid it.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Creed checks a leg kick.
Raskalnikov steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Creed.

and Creed counters by clinching up.
Raskalnikov throws a knee to the head but misses.
Raskalnikov gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


It looks like Logan Creed has been cut.
Raskalnikov tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Creed jumps into guard, dragging Raskalnikov to the mat.
Creed looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Logan Creed dominated that round.

That's time! Back to the action!


Raskalnikov bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Creed swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Raskalnikov throws a wild body kick that Creed sees coming a mile off.
Creed blocks a head kick by Raskalnikov.
Raskalnikov misses with a jab, cross combination.

Creed throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Raskalnikov was covering up waiting for the punch and Creed finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Raskalnikov can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Creed controls the pace.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Creed throws and elbow that misses. Raskalnikov uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Creed's guard. Nice move by Raskalnikov!
Creed looking to hit a scissor sweep but Raskalnikov is one step ahead there.

Creed is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Raskalnikov trying to control the position from guard on top but Creed is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Raskalnikov won't allow Creed to sweep him here.
Creed is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Raskalnikov postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Creed is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Raskalnikov, into his guard.
Creed wants to pass the guard but Raskalnikov is keeping the position.

Raskalnikov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Creed can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Creed stays in close to Raskalnikov's body and controls the position.
Creed wants to control from the top but Raskalnikov keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Logan Creed.
Good work by Creed as he checks the leg kick.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Raskalnikov tried to score with a low kick but Creed checks it.
Creed keeps the fight on the outside.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Creed crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Raskalnikov - the referee stops the clock and Creed gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Raskalnikov. Creed manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Logan Creed showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Creed is looking to clinch but Raskalnikov is avoiding it.
Creed is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Raskalnikov tries a low kick but Creed avoids it.

Raskalnikov shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Creed napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Raskalnikov is looking to take a break and control but Creed is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Raskalnikov goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Creed rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Raskalnikov's guard! Nice work there by Creed!

Creed postures up.
Creed trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Raskalnikov lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Creed!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Creed reaches up to try and control the position but Raskalnikov seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Creed rolls and tries to escape and now Raskalnikov has his back!
Creed staying busy and making it hard for Raskalnikov to control.
Creed turns into Raskalnikov and is now in his guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Raskalnikov keeping moving, preventing Creed from controlling successfully.

Creed wants to control from the top but Raskalnikov keeps moving.
Raskalnikov has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Leopold Raskalnikov has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Creed shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Creed showed some decent athleticism there.
Creed wants to control but Raskalnikov is keeping him busy.
Leopold Raskalnikov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Raskalnikov tries to get to full guard but Creed has control of the leg.
Logan Creed has got the better of the ground game so far.

Raskalnikov is controlling Creed's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Creed is trying to control the action in half guard but Raskalnikov is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Leopold Raskalnikov.
I think Creed has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
