Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Young!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Morris!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morris tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Young is able to avoid easily.
Morris works the jab nicely.
Young ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Morris on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Young misses with a looping right.
Young scores with a nice head shot.
Young throws a lazy right hand but Morris sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Young shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Young stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Morris swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Young trying to control the position from guard on top but Morris is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Morris has momentary wrist control but Young slips an elbow through the middle.
Morris bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Young's guard.
Young tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Morris loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Young working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Morris doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Morris manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Young manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Morris is trying to escape the mount.

Young is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Morris can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Young goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Morris is on top in guard.

Morris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Young swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Morris postures up in Young's guard and throws a big left but Young blocks it.

Young looking for subs off his back but Morris has passed one foot through into half guard.

Morris wants to lay and pray for a moment but Young keeps working.
Young might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Young tries to get to full guard but Morris has control of the leg.
Morris lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Morris working over Young with some ground and pound. Young looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.


It looks like Jason Young has been cut.
Morris is looking to take a break and control but Young is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Morris takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Young tries to roll over but Morris keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Young is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Morris pulls his head out easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jason Young will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Young throws a hook but Morris avoids it easily.
Morris thows a left - swing and a miss!
Young throws a looping overhand right but Morris ducks down to avoid it.
Morris scores with a leg kick.
Young moves out of range of the body kick from Morris.
Morris walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Morris moves away from the strike by Young.
Morris throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Morris ducks under a wild hook from Young.
Young tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Morris was well out of range. Poor timing from Young.
Young throws a lazy right hand but Morris sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Young walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Morris misses with the combination.
Young misses with a hook.
Nick Morris is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Young fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Morris looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Young counters with a three punch combo that has Morris backing up. Morris nods at Young to acknowledge the strikes.

and Morris counters with a big head kick but Young shrugs it off.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Morris.
Morris scores with a sloppy right hand. Young should have avoided that one.
Jason Young seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Morris throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

and Morris makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Young throws a shot from downtown. Morris moves away and avoids it.
Young throws the left hand but Morris avoids the punch easily.

Young throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Morris connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Morris tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Morris uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Young.
Young thows a body shot but no joy.
Young throws a combination. Morris tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Young throws a shot from downtown. Morris moves away and avoids it.
Morris lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Young circles away quickly and effectively.
Morris throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Young sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Young doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Morris counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Morris stuffs the takedown attempt from Young. Young gets slowly back to his feet.
Young lands a really nice looking cross but Morris seems unphased.
Morris loads up on a big right hand but Young slips the punch.
Young throws a big shot that misses.
No joy there for Young, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Young uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Morris.

Nick Morris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Morris tries to clinch up but Young circles away and keeps his distance.

Poor strikes thrown by Young there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

I think Morris has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
