Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nate Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Weres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weres has chosen Hatebreed - In Ashes They Shall Reap as his entrance music. James Weres will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Weres!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos keeps the fight on the outside.
Weres throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Santos shoots in looking for a takedown. Weres tries to sprawl out of it but Santos keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Weres manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Weres is looking to clinch.

Weres has closed the distance and engaged Santos in a clinch.

Weres breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Santos shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Weres manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Santos is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Weres is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Weres has escaped and now he's on top!

Santos looking for subs off his back but Weres has passed one foot through into half guard.
Weres really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Santos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Santos is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Weres pulls his head out easily.

Weres is trying to control the action in half guard but Santos is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Santos wants to control but Weres is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Weres tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Santos has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Weres is working away from the top position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Weres is keen to just control but Santos is a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Weres dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Santos shoots in for a takedown but Weres shows good takedown defense.
Santos closes this distance looking for a takedown but Weres circles away.
Santos looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Weres throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
