PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thor Pe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and LeRoy Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barnes has chosen Fireman (Instrumental) as his entrance music. The key to victory for Thor Pe has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Barnes or perhaps it was just good defense by Pe which made him look bad.

Pe moves into the clinch.

Barnes is trying to trip Pe. He has hold of a leg but Pe is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Barnes persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Barnes drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pe manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Barnes has Pe in his guard.
Pe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barnes on the ground.

Barnes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pe defends well.

Barnes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pe's guard.

Barnes postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Pe is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Barnes, into his guard.
Pe wants to stand but Barnes is controlling his posture from full guard.
Barnes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pe's guard.
Pe wants to stand and escape but Barnes is having none of it.

Pe is breathing heavily.
Barnes passes into half guard.
Barnes is pressing down on Pe's thigh, looking to free his foot. Pe is holding on for now.

Barnes is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Barnes is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pe sees it coming and defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Barnes is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pe is just riding it out for now. Barnes eventually gives up the hold.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Barnes seems to be looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Pe's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Nice takedown defense from Pe. No joy for Barnes on that attempt.

Barnes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Barnes is working for a kimura but Pe is defending it quite comfortably.

Barnes looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
