PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Arcanjo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Arcanjo might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Sangue de Bairro by Naçao Zumbi. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miguel Arcanjo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oscar King!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Arcanjo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
King wants to clinch but Arcanjo slips to the side

and Arcanjo holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
King tries to circle away but Arcanjo has him pinned against the cage.
King scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Arcanjo has clasped his hands together around King's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Arcanjo prevents King from escaping the position.
Arcanjo trying to control the position but King is working away.
King tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Arcanjo has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
King trying to control the hands but Arcanjo breaks the grip.

Arcanjo looking to break King's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. King remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Arcanjo will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Arcanjo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

King controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
King looking very determined here, making life difficult for Arcanjo.

King tries to break free.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

King moves into the clinch successfully.
Arcanjo fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Arcanjo is looking for a takedown up against the cage. King gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Arcanjo has King pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. King manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Miguel Arcanjo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Arcanjo.
Arcanjo tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. King just stands there and leans against the cage.
King tries to break free but Arcanjo pushes him back against the cage.

Arcanjo tries to work over King's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

King pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
King wants to clinch but Arcanjo slips to the side

and Arcanjo counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Arcanjo.
King is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Arcanjo is controlling him.

Arcanjo seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Miguel Arcanjo just wasn't active enough.

King closes the distance but Arcanjo moves to the side

and Arcanjo counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Arcanjo.

King breaks from the clinch.
King stuffs the takedown attempt from Arcanjo. Arcanjo gets slowly back to his feet.

King forces Arcanjo back against the cage and clinches.
King looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Arcanjo struggles to land a body shot inside as King controls his hands.
King has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Arcanjo is trying to maintain a safe position but King gets an underhook and turns Arcanjo into the cage.
King throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

King pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
King looks to clinch

and Arcanjo counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for King!
Miguel Arcanjo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
King is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Arcanjo lands a heavy elbow.

Arcanjo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that King can do to turn this around?

Arcanjo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Arcanjo has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! King is forced to tap!
