Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Peter Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DeVaughn Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Rodriguez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, DeVaughn Williams!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams gets a takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Williams is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rodriguez sees it coming and defends easily.
Williams wants to control but Rodriguez is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Williams might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rodriguez kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Rodriguez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Williams is working away from the top position though.
Rodriguez is staying active underneath Williams, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Williams seems to be looking for submissions.

Williams is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rodriguez defends it well.

Rodriguez is pressing down on Williams's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Williams wants to get up but he can't break Rodriguez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rodriguez is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Williams can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Rodriguez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Williams really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Williams is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Rodriguez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Williams on the ground.
Rodriguez wants to control the pace but Williams is squirming around nicely.

Williams drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Williams jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Williams is working Rodriguez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Rodriguez has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Rodriguez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Rodriguez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That was a close round but I would say that Peter Rodriguez will probably get the nod.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by DeVaughn Williams.

Rodriguez has managed to clinch.
Rodriguez has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Williams is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Rodriguez lands a nice uppercut.
Williams fails to pull guard.
Williams jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rodriguez walks away with a smile on his face. Williams gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Williams is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Rodriguez has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Rodriguez!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Peter Rodriguez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rodriguez shoots in looking for a takedown. Williams tries to sprawl out of it but Rodriguez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Williams manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Rodriguez is pressed up against the cage. Williams has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rodriguez down to the mat. Rodriguez avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Williams tries to keep at a distance but Rodriguez has taken the fight into the clinch.
Williams wants to break free but Rodriguez has control.
Williams gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Rodriguez.

Williams tries to pull guard but Rodriguez holds him up against the cage and eventually Williams drops back down to his feet.

and Williams decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rodriguez's guard.

DeVaughn Williams comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Williams has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
