Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Diangi Makiavala!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rivers scores with a takedown into Makiavala's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Makiavala can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rivers wants to control from the top but Makiavala keeps moving.
Rivers might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rivers looking to sit in guard and control but Makiavala gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Rivers wants to sweep here but Makiavala controlling him for the moment.
Makiavala seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Makiavala is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Rivers is pulling down on Makiavala's head to control his posture.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Makiavala trying to control the position from guard on top but Rivers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Rivers avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Makiavala is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rivers.
Makiavala scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Rivers waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Makiavala.
Makiavala stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Makiavala wants it to stay on the feet.
Makiavala throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Rivers shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rivers showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rivers lands a nice short elbow.
Rivers landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Makiavala is pressing down on Rivers's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Rivers slips nicely into half guard.
Rivers is looking to take a break and control but Makiavala is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Rivers moves into full mount! Makiavala won't be happy about that!
Rivers is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Makiavala can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Rivers lands with some strikes.
BOOM! Rivers connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Rivers fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!


Makiavala is rocked!
Rivers has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Makiavala's face.
Makiavala is still in real trouble! Can Rivers finish him?
Rivers trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Rivers lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rivers can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Makiavala is looking to escape.
Makiavala seems to have recovered his senses.
Makiavala is desperately trying to improve his position but Rivers has a good base and remains in mount.
Rivers wants to control the pace but Makiavala is squirming around nicely.

Rivers loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Makiavala scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Rivers land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Rivers stands and salutes the crowd.
