PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between zorrito falcon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and TJ Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, zorrito falcon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, TJ Coleman!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Skip Squint and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Coleman shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. falcon manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Coleman trying to control the position from guard on top but falcon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Coleman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with falcon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
falcon has a closed guard, preventing Coleman from standing up.

Coleman trying to control but falcon is working from the bottom.
falcon keeping full guard, as Coleman tries to pass.
Coleman wants to control from the top but falcon keeps moving.
Coleman lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

falcon manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Coleman bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
falcon dodges the punch combination from Coleman.

Coleman is looking to improve his position.
Coleman is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

falcon is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Coleman doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time falcon.
falcon works his foot free and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Coleman looks gassed!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
falcon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

falcon fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Coleman throws a combination but it was largely blocked by falcon.

falcon shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
falcon slows the pace down in half guard.
falcon wants to pass the guard but Coleman is defending well.
Coleman is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Coleman looks like he's trying to stand up.
Coleman is trying to defend against the ground and pound but falcon scores with a couple of nice shots.

falcon moves into full mount! Coleman won't be happy about that!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

falcon scores with a nice strike.

falcon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Coleman's guard.
falcon controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of zorrito falcon.
Coleman takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Coleman shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and falcon counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Coleman's guard now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
falcon is stalling in the full guard.
falcon's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
falcon sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Coleman's guard.
falcon looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Coleman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
falcon content to control rather than advance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. falcon lands a nice short elbow.
falcon tries to pass the half guard into mount. Coleman knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
falcon is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
falcon keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
falcon uses his free foot to push down on Coleman's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Coleman.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! falcon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

falcon stuns Coleman with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

falcon shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Coleman is trying to defend but falcon finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Coleman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

falcon gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

falcon feints and as Coleman raises his hands in defense, falcon changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

falcon lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

falcon looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
falcon looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
falcon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

falcon works his way into side control.
falcon controls the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

falcon thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
falcon is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Coleman's shoulder. That is not cool.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of zorrito falcon.

falcon drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

falcon thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
falcon slips nicely into half guard.

falcon seems to be looking for submissions.

And that's the end of the fight!
zorrito falcon showed his dominance in that final round.
Well falcon has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
